Unexpected Skies
We went up to Andrejcová to photograph the Perseids, expecting a night full of shooting stars. As we were capturing the magic of the meteor shower, something unexpected happened — the northern lights suddenly appeared above us. A rare and unforgettable moment in the Slovak mountains, blending stardust and aurora in one frame.
Seeing the northern lights over the High Tatras for the first time was surreal. At first, I didn’t even notice it with my eyes — I spotted some strange pink glow on my camera screen and just assumed it was light pollution from nearby Poprad. But my friend, a fellow photographer, recognized it instantly: it was the aurora borealis. That moment when it clicked… adrenaline and dopamine shot through the roof. We ended up photographing until morning
